I'm a huge Hillary Clinton fan. Always have been; always will be. The fact that she did not win the Electoral College was a devastating blow—one that I have yet to recover from.
It has been over a year since my last post on this blog (which I pay a pretty penny to keep live). This is because I used my social media outlets (primarily Facebook, where I have a decent amount of followers) to address my concerns, dreams, and how I thought America could truly be great. I did this hoping that I could instill some common sense in my fellow millennials. Apparently, my attempts were futile.
And seeing as 2016 is drawing to a close, I am going to highlight some of my political rants from Facebook. This does not include the countless re-posts, memes, videos, links, snaps, tweets or myriad responses to comments. I think my own words (and a few choice quotes from like-mined individuals) are enough to convey how felt throughout the year.
Things may have not worked out in my favor (or that of democracy as a whole for that matter), but at least I can say that I tried to steer America—even by the smallest measure—in the right direction.
Ted Cruz's birth certificate is from Canada (which means not the United States of America).
For the record, I am not hating on Bernie Sanders. I rather like him. That said, I firmly believe in this statement from The Atlantic: "Hillary Clinton’s realistic attitude is the only thing that can effect change in today’s political climate." #DropTheMic
"And that "Bern" you've been "feeling" has made you quite nasty. The social media smear campaign against Hillary Clinton has become so toxic and sexist that Bernie Sanders himself had to tell the bullies to back off this week."
Just because you are pro-Bernie Sanders does not make it all right to spew all this hate about Hillary. Why don't you use all that negative energy on Trump or Cruz? I mean, I almost want to start creating stupid memes and saying nasty things about Sanders just to even things out. There are a lot of you on here that I expected better from. #ShameOnYou
“I get it: Bernie always talks about economic issues because he believes that's one of the only things we should be focusing on because in his mind, the States would be better if we were more like the Socialist Scandinavian countries. I do NOT disagree that this country would be better if we were more like those countries, however, I feel strongly that this switch won't happen in one election cycle and that we still need to clean up the messes we've made here and abroad. We've fucked up a lot of stuff around the world, and while it would be nice to ignore these things and focus solely on our own grave issues, those troops have been deployed and that battleship has sailed.
To do that, we need someone who understands and is always learning more about the politics of the world, can see that they will be a factor in our future in one way or another, and is ready to work on cleaning up our international fuck ups while also moving us towards that happier, more socially and economically stable place at home. Bernie's repeated harping on economic issues, even when asked point blank about other issues, is my #1 issue with him. She's not perfect, but in the end, Hillary sees the big picture and I really do believe wants to help everyone on the economic side as well in her own more traditional ways. I understand the love for Bernie and get if people disagree, but I'd rather have someone who has made mistakes and grown than someone who doesn't even acknowledge the full scope of the problems in the first place.”
Are you guys seriously trying to claim that Hilary Clinton is a racist because of what she said in '94? If that is the case, then Bernie Sanders is racist, too. I like Bernie, but I love Hilary way more. And quite frankly, neither of them are racists, so get over it!
I had my reservations at first, but now I can fully agree that Barry Obama did great things. https://www.facebook.com/NowThisNews/videos/802710193152440/
Seriously, I just don't understand what is the thought process of the idiots that want to vote for Donald J. Trump. I mean, who in their right mind thinks that this short-fingered, orange, racist, sexist and downright stupid waist of a human would be an ideal president? I realize that all of them are backwoods, bush-wackin scrubs, elky pieces of shit—but even trailer-park trash should know that Murica deserves better. He is dangerous.
I'm still voting for Hilary (she's still my gal), but here is a reason why I have never thrown shade at Bernie: https://www.facebook.com/youngberners/videos/869443309821254/
To all those people who tell me, "I'm socially liberal, but economically conservative." #BullShit
“You want to tear Hillary Clinton down, great then enjoy President Trump.”—Bill Maher All ya haters (hipsters), please watch and learn something from this video:
Argh, Ted Cruz!
"At the White House in the 1990s, Clinton boasted a collection of more than 100 hot sauces." Even when she's telling the truth, Sanders supporters feel compelled to call this pandering. I understand that you need to advocate for your candidate, but claiming that Clinton doesn't deserve the black vote cause she said that she carries hot sauce (which she has been doing since the 1990s) is, frankly, idiotic.
"Unlike the corporate feminists who cape for Hillary, his supporters are much more paternalistic and arrogant. Why? Because they think that their rebellious, anti-establishment views give them license to shit on everybody else. Especially Black people."
"Public opinion of Clinton has followed a fixed pattern throughout her career. Her public approval plummets whenever she applies for a new position. Then it soars when she gets the job...the predictable swings of public opinion reveal Americans’ continued prejudice against women caught in the act of asking for power."
"This election is about much bigger issues. It’s about the way way we look at people, and talk about them, and care for them. It’s about the soul of America and its relationships to the world. If you care about that, you cannot vote Trump, or stay home, or vote for a third party spoiler."
Stop listening to Justin Timberlake and Drake for a hot minute, and watch and learn something. Why can't some of you just give a damn?
WAIT. Trump is up in the polls? I would really like one of the hipsters and/or pseudo-intellectuals on here to explain this travesty to me. I feel like your beard and/or Deschanel-esque bangs—like Gretchen Wieners's hair—holds the secret. To whit: please stop with all these third-party candidates. Just stop. If you don't vote for Hillary Clinton on November 7th, don't ever fucking complain about a Donald Trump presidency.
Americans, the enemy is not Mexicans, Muslims or any other disenfranchised minority group. Actually, these are the two classifications (which so happen to belong to one elephant-size party) that are destroying this already great nation. They are fiscal conservative and resentful whites.
"If Trump’s polls keep going up after this week, then the discontent in the nation is even greater than most of us realize. But it’s likelier that the galloping polls of Trump come to a halt. All he needed to do was prove to viewers that he could act presidential for 90 minutes. All Clinton needed to do was prove that he couldn’t. And she succeeded."
I have been a Clinton supporter from the very beginning—much to the chagrin of many, many of you. Indeed, I am one of the few millennials that got lambasted for wholeheartedly believing that she would be a GREAT president—one of the best in history in fact. Has she made mistakes? Yes, undoubtedly. What politician hasn't? But her vast accomplishments far outweigh her faults. I'm not voting for her because I hate Trump. I'm voting for her because she is accomplished, level-headed, intelligent and, above all, deserving. She makes me so proud to be an American.
If you're a media outlet, it's not biased to say that Donald Trump is a miserable fool, a deplorable scrub, or an orange piece of shit. It's a motherfucking fact! Basically: the sky is blue, the world is round, I am cute, and Trump is an UN-AMERICAN bigot. Please, just go away. Far, far away!!
It is, to put it bluntly, ridiculous to arrest people for protesting in a peaceful assembly. I mean, have none of these idiots ever heard of the FIRST AMENDMENT!!!! These hicks throw a conniption when the government aims to regulate gun control, arguing how the Second Amendment gives them the right to bear arms, but don't give two flying fucks when the First is disgustingly and illegally discarded. Do better, America!! #NoDAPL #StandingRock
READ THIS: “Republicans have one path to victory in this election, and it's called false equivalency. They can't deny Trump is horrible; it's on tape. So they want voters to believe Hillary is just as bad. And in pursuit of that goal, they have a very powerful ally - lazy people. People who like to say ‘they’re all bad’ because when you say that, you don’t have to do any homework. Say 'they're all the same' and you can sound justifiably jaded by the entire process, when really, you just don't know anything. You say you’re cynical about politics - don’t flatter yourself. Cynical comes when you know too much. You, on the other hand, haven’t bothered to learn anything.”
"If you vote for Hillary, you're a grown-up. If you vote for Trump, you're an asshole."
If you're voting for Trump, you have (even in the slightest) racist values. Period. Then again, if you're voting for him, you probably already know that, and don't give a shit.
Guys and dolls, now is the time to not rest on your privileged laurels. Enough with your posts on avocado toast, Kardashian memes, Beyoncé concerts, glasses of wine and your latest preppy fashion find. Show your support for Clinton. Show how you don't want the presidency to be controlled by an orange amoeba. Demonstrate that you are a grown-up that understands the gravity of this election. Galvanize those around around you; make them realize that the only way to uphold the greatest democracy is to support her. Do the right thing. Be an American.
My gurl! Let's make #HerStory on Tuesday, America!
I am so PROUD to have voted for the most qualified person to run for the American presidency; a woman who has fought her entire career for mothers, children, and the middle class. I know she has her naysayers, those who have have succumbed to the GOP's false propaganda. That said, I would hope that after the dust settles, we can all rally behind her. Because, by George, I think she is going to win this!!!
If anything, for the sake of the volatile economy, please, please, pretty please vote for Hillary Clinton.
We got this!
I asked you guys to galvanize. I implored you to be open-minded, and not believe all the fallacies about emails and super predators. I expected you to be grown-ups, and look into policies and how it will affect you. I demonstrated, emphatically, how you couldn't compare the two by a long shot; how one is essentially a Klan member in a suit and red tie. I warned you that he is dangerous. I BEGGED you to vote. But you didn't listen. Most of you were too busy living in your privileged bubble. Most of you put your egos before what is better for the nation, holding fast to your socialist Sanders dream (he also begged to vote for her). I have always understood that America, intrinsically, is racist, misogynist and, frankly, stupid. And judging by the results that we are all seeing, I hope that you now understand that, too. That's why I asked you to spread the word; to make a truly great candidate the first female president; to show others in swing states that the nation can evolve past its primal nature. But again, you didn't listen. I know only a handful of Trump supporters who follow me on Facebook, and though I like some of them, I know that they have grown up with bigoted values. I don't give them a pass, but I also never put there opinions on high regard. I did, however, expect more from the rest of you.I hope you are happy with the results that your actions, or lack thereof, have produced. Now go fuck yourself! You have broken my heart!!
Yes, I am livid that an orange racist amoeba known as Trump won the election. But I am absolutely ENRAGED that the brilliant, accomplished and inspiring Hillary Rodham Clinton is not my president. That is what hurts the most. It is pretty apparent that America is too stupid and bigoted to deserve her.
This really helped. Thank you, Leslie Knope, for helping me come to terms with my grief; for helping me see the silver lining; and, as always, for motivating me to keep doing good in this world. Because in the words of our mutual idol: "Please, please never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it. It’s always worth it." I am—and will always be—with her!
I am obsessed with Angela Rye. Completely and utterly obsessed.
Trump's tax plan: reduces the middle class's tax by 2%, but gives the wealthiest Americans a whopping 15% cut (because that seems fair); and RAISES taxes on single-parent households. Great job choosing the person that’s going to help you, Rust Belt. Lets see how well y'all are going to cope with this.
Honestly, I don't think I have used the words "deplorable" and "divisive" before 2016. Now, I can't seem to stop using these terms every hour of every day. And come Inauguration Day, it'll probably increase to every minute.
Truly a guilty pleasure: watching Ana Navarro school Kayleigh McEnany. It just never gets old.
It's important that we show President Trump and the Republicans that same respect and cooperation that they showed President Obama.
